Using Your Change Log

As one works in their database/family file, it's often difficult to remember all the work done in a session, never mind over time. The way to overcome this is by turning on the "Change Log" in Ancestral Quest.

To do this, go to Tools, scroll down and click on "Preferences"

Once there, click on the tab that says "Database":

Note in the lower left hand side of this section it says "Log Changes". Put a check in the box next to the words "Record Changes". You also can tell it how many entries to record and then click on "OK" once you've done this.

At this point you need to continue to work for a few days and then go back to view your log by clicking on the "View" button.

After a few days, go back to Tools, scroll and click on preferences and then click the "Database" tab to get to the section where the "View" button is clickable. It will come up as shown above and if one highlights an entry it shows up on the bottom there for you to view what was done at that time.

Additionally, you can "print" your change log and "delete" it if you wish, either way, this is very helpful for going back and reviewing what was done in case of problems or confusion on an entry in the future.

Enjoy this and many other features using Ancestral Quest!

Remember Ancestral Quest is fully FamilySearch Certified!
