Where is My File?

Has there been a moment when you looked and it seemed like your file was not there? A list at the bottom of your File drop down menu will show you the last six files in Windows but not in a Mac.

Sometimes, we use a different file, close the one we are in and spend a bit of time working on other files and close the program.

The next day you forgot you were looking for something in a different file but now your file seems to be lost and you panic thinking it's gone. Ancestral Quest can search your computer for each and every file it can open, restore or import for you.

To search for a data file, simply go to File and open, in the box click the "Search" button in the lower left and the program will search your whole computer for any of the files it will open for you. When the list comes up, it will display the number of individuals and marriages to help you identify the correct file.

To look for a backup file, you repeat this process however go to File and Restore and click on the "Search button".

When Ancestral Quest searches your computer, it will not search your recycle bin in case it landed there accidentally. You'll need to search there yourself.

Remember Ancestral Quest is fully FamilySearch Certified!

Comments and questions are always welcome!

Happy Ancestraling...Claire ;)
