AQ Tree Tips ~ Improved

Genealogical research takes a tremendous amount of time, using AQs hinting through TreeTips can help anyone researching their ancestors. Entering a few pieces of information often can return addition sources and/or new information.

The new slick interface recently added to AQ 16 makes it even easier and leaves one plenty of room for family names in the pedigree view without truncating the names. The interface allows hints from FamilySearch Family Tree, FindMyPast, Ancestry, WorldConnect, Geneanet, MyHeritage and the individual Favorite sites added by the user.

Note there are two sections, one for hints and one for advanced searchers, each provides links right into the connected website. Once there the user is able to copy and paste the information in and attach a new resource. If the resource is from FamilySearch FamilyTree it can be moved through the lync and sync processes.

Two new videos showing how they work are available for view on our YouTube channel.

The first one, TreeTips-Research Assistance built into Ancestral Quest: Complete Guid. Updated reviews the various hints and searches.

The second one, TreeTips-Research Assistance built into Ancestral Quest: Case Study takes you step by step through the process of entering some information, searching with hints and the research features, adding the information to database and sourcing it all.

Each video provides great insights in extending your family history using the AQ's Tree Tips.

Improved Search Results

Artificial intelligence is being used more and more today with genealogical research. By entering in a few pieces of information, the return from that information can be massive, but it can also be exactly what you are looking for in your family tree.

Ancestral Quest 15 has a number of aids to help with finding and extending those family lines. Both MyHeritage and FindMyPast were introduced as new features in this latest version. Together, they increase the chances of adding new documents and/or individuals to your tree.

In addition, in the pedigree view of Ancestral Quest 15, there are links to both Ancestry.com and Rootsweb.com. In previous versions, the barest amount of information was sent out to search for matches when you clicked on the link, however, today, in AQ15, when you click on that link, an increase amount of information is passed onto the search engines providing a better return of more accurate information for your family tree.

Taking a close look at the end of a name and you can see 2 links. The top link is to the trees located in Rootsweb.com. Clicking this link can bring you straight to an exact match.

Clicking on the name will bring this information into focus to view and perhaps provide some additional information as well as a contact person who place this information on this website. They could be a relative.

The second link is to Ancestry.com and can also lead you to more clues for your family member or tree. Again the results are direct and exactly the correct individual.

In addition to a tree which can lead to a cousin, there are many records below which pertain to this individual. In prior searches from Ancestral Quest, the barest amount of information was being sent to the search engines which lead to a less chance of reaching information on your ancestor, this new improved searching capability now takes you straight to any information on the individual if it is there.

If you wish to remove some information that was brought over, you simply edit the search in Ancestry.com as sometimes a little less is best.

Take advantage of this and many other great features of Ancestral Quest 15 today, click here to purchase, download and start enjoying this great program which helps you grow your family tree with only a few clicks.

TreeTips

As family history/ancestral researchers, it is always a good thing to get extra help in locating one's ancestors. TreeTips, does just this, it helps you research and locate records and family trees from the information in your own data files.

In partnership with MyHeritage, FamilySearch and Findmypast, Ancestral Quest provides TreeTips in your own datafile. As you enter in the information you know about an ancestor, AQ will use the combined hints of these three web-based companies to search over 12 billion records for additional information to help grow your tree or to provide you with missing sources from known but not proven information.

To make sure these are activated, go to the View in the AQ program menu and make sure the hints are all checked.

The above action will put additional Icons showing there are hints on the individuals in your tree. It looks like this:

Note that for this individual, there are hints from Findmypast, FamilySearch and MyHeritage. Hovering on each Icon shows you how many hints there are for you and clicking the Icon takes you right to the hints.

This is the actual 1920 US Census for Joseph Brisson and his family. I can easily attach it to my records as a source if I need to. Additionally, I'll be able to confirm or deny this is a good hint.

Each Icon does the same, it brings you to records and/or trees from the above sites. This is one of the new features in Ancestral Quest 15, this author has found some new discoveries using this feature and is looking forward to possibly breaking through some brick walls and also adding some additional missing sources using TreeTips.

Take advantage of all the new features in Ancestral Quest 15 today!

Ancestral Quest 15 is here! There are new features to enjoy. We'll review a couple of them today in this blog.

The ability to view one's pedigree beyond the standard 5 generations is something many have asked for and is now finally here in AQ15, you'll find that if you have one of those large monitors, you can view up to 7 generations, otherwise you'll be able to view up to 6 generations.

There is a convenient slider in the upper left corner where you can adjust the number of generations.

Another feature is the side by side merging.

If you prefer the other merging feature, you can switch back to by clicking the icon next to the side by side icon.

Another great feature is the hints you get from FindMyPast, MyHeritage, FamilySearch, Ancestry and RootsWeb.

Hints can lead to locating additional data and family on lines that may be blocked or at a standstill.

In next week's blog we'll explore the new FamilySearch features that have been added to Ancestral Quest 15.

Be sure to purchase Ancestral Quest 15 to enjoy these great features and many others!
